Antecedent Labs

Detecting transitions in complex systems — before they become obvious.

Applied AI research. Domain-agnostic structural intelligence.

What we do

Before a complex system transitions, it signals.

Financial markets, labour measurement infrastructure, institutional capacity, geopolitical stability — every complex system operates in regimes. When structural conditions shift, the system's ability to self-correct degrades. Recovery slows. Variance increases. These signals are measurable before the transition becomes visible.

Antecedent Labs identifies these pre-transition signals. Our methodology draws on dynamical systems theory, quantitative finance, labour economics, and organisational research. The underlying mechanism — structural stress preceding phase transitions — is domain-agnostic. It operates the same way whether the system is a market, a survey, or an institution.

We built detection systems, published cross-country research, and demonstrated the methodology across two domains in five weeks. The methodology itself remains proprietary. What we publish is the evidence that it works.

Applications

One methodology. Multiple domains.

Deployed

Financial Markets

Real-time regime classification across approximately 1,500 instruments and 8 asset classes. Four-state regime detection with continuous fragility scoring. Operational and producing daily assessments.

Published

Labour Economics & Measurement

Cross-country research across 10 economies demonstrating that government measurement infrastructure is degrading simultaneously in 9 countries — a pattern no other institution has identified and connected to structural transition theory.

In development

AI Governance

Empirical framework for AI deployment governance derived from documented multi-system AI architecture. How to guardrail, deploy, and bring out the best in AI systems across organisational contexts.

Financial Markets — First Application

The Risk Intelligence Engine

The Risk Intelligence Engine classifies market conditions into four regime states:

Calm Markets operating within normal parameters. Low structural risk.
Elevated Early indicators of changing conditions. Increased monitoring warranted.
Disrupted Significant structural misalignment detected. Active risk management.
Crisis Severe market stress. Maximum risk protocols.
Each regime is accompanied by a continuous fragility score from 0.0 to 1.0, reflecting the degree of structural stress across the monitored instrument universe.

Access Without Displacement: An Access-Displacement Framework for AI Economic Transformation

Vito Henjoto, Antecedent Labs — March 2026

A theoretical framework proposing that AI-driven economic access and AI-driven labour displacement are structurally independent processes, not a single trade-off. Introduces the Measurement Obsolescence Hypothesis, Organisational Absorption Rate, Economic Forcing Function, and the AGI-C/AGI-R distinction. Seven original contributions including novel frameworks, hypotheses, and testable predictions.

The United States as Outlier: Cross-Country Empirical Validation of the Access-Displacement Framework Across Ten Economies

Vito Henjoto, Antecedent Labs — March 2026

Empirical validation across ten economies. Examines G_A/G_D independence, international Measurement Obsolescence Hypothesis validation across nine countries, and Economic Forcing Function quantification. Demonstrates that the United States is a statistical outlier in labour measurement degradation, with benchmark revisions at 3.4x historical norms.

The Measurement Obsolescence Report

The data governments use to measure their economies is degrading. Survey response rates are collapsing. Benchmark revisions are escalating. Nine countries. One pattern. Nobody has assembled this picture — until now.

US jobs overcounted (3.4x norm)

Intelligence

Structural intelligence, delivered.

The detection systems produce daily regime assessments across approximately 1,500 instruments. The research programme generates cross-domain analysis grounded in verified empirical data. Both are available as structured intelligence products.

Regime Reports

Regular structural risk assessments converted from live engine output. Current regime classification, fragility trends, and what would need to change for the regime to shift. Plain language. No black boxes.

Research Briefings

Cross-domain analysis drawing on the published research programme. Measurement infrastructure status, absorption mechanism assessments, and structural transition indicators for specific economies or sectors.

Custom Engagements

Domain-specific structural intelligence. The methodology is domain-agnostic — if your system exhibits regime behaviour, we can assess whether it is approaching a transition. Scope and pricing on enquiry.

Founded by

Vito Henjoto

20 years in institutional research, financial media, and quantitative analysis.

Antecedent Labs was built solo in five weeks — two published research papers across 10 economies, dual detection systems monitoring approximately 1,500 instruments, and an applied AI research programme spanning financial markets, labour economics, and AI governance.

The foundation is 20 years of institutional experience across the Asia-Pacific region — technical strategist for GFT and Invast Financial Services, regular market commentator for BBC, CNBC, and Channel NewsAsia, recurring invited speaker at ATAA and APTA industry conferences. Quoted in TIME Magazine.

The methodology is domain-agnostic. Financial markets were the first application. They will not be the last.
